AIRFARE LOBBYING CAMPAIGN HEADS TO BIRMINGHAM

Community in action against exorbitant plane fares to Jamaica organised by Think Tank & Lobby Group Facilitators For a Better Jamaica (FFBJ) AirFare Lobbying campaign continues and is calling it's third Community Consultative Meeting in Birmingham. The campaign is intensifying in seeking for the reduction of airfares to Jamaica and the Caribbean and to increase baggage allowances from one suitcase to two suitcases to Jamaica.

The objective is for the airfares to go down to around the £500.00 mark, and for the baggage allowances to revert to two suitcases and if this does not happen there will be further action with the possibility of a boycott affecting both airlines financially.

"As we have such a large percentage of our community who come from Jamaica and the Caribbean we are so glad as a local Church to be involved in this exciting campaign which will be coming to Birmingham on Saturday the 7th December 2013". Reverend Bryan Scott B.A.

"We are pressing on with the campaign and it is exciting. The many support and encouragement has strengthened our resolve for this worthy cause" Saffron Jackson

We are now over 12,500 signatures a combination of online and paper petition and it is increasing. This is showing a strong community interest. It is exciting as the Midlands and other cities around the UK and Internationally are not just being sympathetic but also joining the campaign and now we are headed to Birmingham? ~ Sylbourne Sydial

President Barack Obama's recent victory in the US Presidential elections matters just as much as his historical victory in 2008. He is only the fourth Democrat since the 1900 to win two full terms, other than Franklin Roosevelt and Bill Clinton. We want to use this reception to honor his achievements, while celebrating FFBJ's ten year anniversary serving the Jamaican community.

In his November victory speech, President Obama reminded us “ that while our road has been hard, while our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back, and we know in our hearts that the best is yet to come.” We believe that the best is yet to come for Jamaica, so FFBJ's mission to effect change in Jamaica, and countries in which Jamaicans reside, will be stronger, more focused, and determined in 2013.
